Seeding Local Cultures Project.
Seeding local cultures seeks to respond to the erosion of indigenous knowledge and cultures that are connected to sustainability practices, in local communities in Zimbabwe and aims to address the need to bridge these now disparate ideas.
Seeding Local Cultures is underpinned by the belief that cultural and environmental heritage is deeply intertwined and connected. With transgenerational knowledge sharing at its heart, the project brings communities back into the school as co-educators and co-researchers.
The project seeks to
-
Develop teaching and learning materials that will aid transdisciplinary learning resulting in an empowered learner.
-
Generate eco –pedagogies for sustainable development with 8 selected schools and communities in Masvingo and Harare.
-
Influence and develop the National curriculum implementation strategies at teacher training Centres and Higher learning that connects community-engaged learning.
-
Suggest best practices for effective implementation of the Zimbabwe updated Curriculum (2015-22) and the Education 5.0 strategy of a new community-engaged learning curriculum concept that would develop from existing relations through research.
